Cyprus – A Millionaires’ Destination?
It appears so based on the publications that we all read. The tax system, the permanent residency V home buying and the cash/business for a Cypriot passport, it appears that it is becoming more and more successful towards the goal to attract foreign millionaires and others. Having said that, it appears also that we have not attracted money-launderers nor obscure people, but on the contrary, high prestige people and that no only from Russia and ex-eastern block countries but also from Europe. A plan which was adopted by the previous Government, has been adopted by the present Government and it seems that it is working well and interest is increasing.
The present President took it upon himself to promote that policy, hence the trips to Qatar etc whereas the Ministry of Interior is pursuing this approach as a “hot line”. We have now a Norwegian multi millionaire being a Cypriot, a Russian multi millionaire buying 10% of the Bank of Cyprus, the Qatar deal is progressing and others are on line.
To this goal the body which has been set up to attract foreign investments (CYMEPA) is doing very good work. Its extensive trips abroad and the promotion that it has taken, is to its credit to its chairman Phedias Pilides, a most capable person assisted by his council and staff. Yet the same body expresses its dismay on the red tape which discourages newcomers. The recent Israeli software group with approximately 700 workers have been turned away by the red tape in Cyprus and ended up in Malta. Surely this group with the daily flights of 25 minutes from Israel would prefer to be in Cyprus. Yet the civil service which is known for its inefficiency is working against the goal set. But then you might wonder why the Government does not fire and send home these incapable people. No, it cannot be done since as the scheme of employment is, no one can get fired from civil service and promotion is based on years of service and not on capability. With this basis do we have a future? Not of course, but any Government at the time is trying, offering however a lip service rather than action and there is not political will (Government and opposing parties) to take the courageous measures to place the matter right.
We must take action and as Arafat said, “we need an agreement for the brave”. Do we have the brave people in this country, which can take on the civil service with a consequence on the various political parties? We are afraid we do not and it is a shame that small politics do not allow the Government of the time to carry out its policy for those items that are evidently beneficial to the Cyprus economy. We cannot understand that there are no “Cypriot patriots”, who will place their political ambitions at a lower level than the economy and this, at times of economic difficulties.
This is not a political article, but it is an observation of the wrong doings that it is repeated by all Governments right or left.
A similar and shocking situation exists on the placement of teachers. They are appointed based on age and time of application. So we have 50 year old teachers, who have nothing to do with their pupils in terms of age, have left their university 20 years before and yet younger up-to-date teachers have to wait, in order to become themselves 50 years old to get appointed. A mess we are afraid and an example worldwide to be avoided.
Alas, this is Democracy, but as W. Churchill said “democracy is not the best system but it is the best system that we have so far”.
Coming back to the Qatar deal the press are fighting each other over who will be the first to disclose the valuation on behalf of the Government, giving ammunition to the opposing party of the negotiations. Is there any logic in this? And all these because the press feels that it will sell a few papers more for more money?

Medical Tourism in Cyprus
With a growing number of people heading to Cyprus for medical help, the local industry is expanding its services. The region has become a hotspot for the medical tourist for a number of reasons. Primarily, it offers a variety of medical treatments at a reasonable price among which fertility centers and solutions are most sought after. Along with that, this idyllic region makes for a great holiday destination with its sunny Mediterranean climate and archeological delights. Here are some treatments that can be availed of on this beautiful island:
Dental Care
People travel to Cyprus for dental operations such as dental implants and crown work. These treatments are available at a much reduced rate (an estimated 70%). You need not worry about travel arrangements and similar concerns as many of the dental clinics supply these services as part of the package.
The clinics are fitted with up- to- date equipment and are staffed with fully qualified. The Nicosia Dental Polyclinic is an established clinic that carries out highly competent surgeries and other treatments at a low rate.
Cosmetic Surgery
Another popular treatment on the island is cosmetic surgery with a number of people going in for rhinoplasty and breast enhancement. Again, you can take advantage of the competitive prices on the island. For instance, in order to get your nose reshaped, you need to shell out just £2400 to £3300. Cosmedicare4u provides a personalized experience in which every part of the operation including hotel booking is taken care of by the clinic. Another option is a Cyprus Sun Med Connections that has outlets in Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca and Nicosia.
Fertility Clinics
Cyprus fertility centers are fast becoming a prominent destination for resolving fertility issues. They offer a variety of treatments such as invitro fertilization, intra cystoplasmic sperm injection, intrauterin semination, nucleus transfer and cytoplasmic transfer. Genesis, Cyprus IVF, ISIS Fertility and Ledra are the pick of the bunch. All three fertility centers boast of a success rate that is well above the average mark. These treatments take a long time for completion and hence, it is worthwhile to make sure that your travel arrangements are well in place before visiting the island.
An interesting point of note would be the fact that 60% of private medical sources in Cyprus inclusive of it famous fertility centers are involved in Cyprus medical tourism.
Besides these treatments, eye surgery, rehabilitation, hair transplant and elective surgery are also available in Cyprus.
Genesis is possibly the most organized and successful fertility center worldwide. It is a highly recognized Egg Donation center as well.

www.euronews.net Cyprus went drilling for gas in September, partnered up with the US firm Noble Energy, from Texas. Nicosia has high hopes for its exclusive economic zone, though that exclusivity is open to question. Last year’s new find in the Cyprus-Israel-Lebanon triangle piqued Leviathan appetites all around, including the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Ankara, which is the only capital which recognises the North. It is not just about possibly striking it rich but about politics.

Northern Cyprus Hotels
The holiday market is rapidly changing, and whilst today’s economic climate is no help to travel companies, there has never been a better time to book a hotel direct. The world is full of interesting places to visit, but this year it’s definitely time to re-visit one of the wonderful North Cyprus hotels and see all that this glorious part of the Mediterranean has to offer. One of the many delights of this fabulous resort is that, certainly compared to its partner in the south of the island,Northern Cyprus remains relatively quiet. The main towns are bustling and full of shops and businesses, but get away from these and along the coast, and it’s as if you have entered a different world. The Karpas peninsula, covering thousands of acres of the north-eastern tip of Cyprus, really is like “the land that time forgot”. Here you can still drive for half an hour without seeing another car, find deserted beaches and come across tiny villages that look unchanged for centuries and where people still farm with donkeys rather than tractors.
For many years after the early 1970s, Cyprus remained a truly divided country, with the Greek Cypriots in the south and the Turkish Cypriots in the north. The border was monitored and patrolled by the United Nations, and crossing it was only barely possible with a great deal of forward planning and masses of paperwork. This situation meant that North Cyprus became effectively an annexed part of Turkey and the only way to reach it was by a flight via the Turkish mainland. Simple enough, and many took advantage of it, but long and tedious, involving at least a touchdown en-route, and frequently a change of aircraft and a long wait. But no more! For a few years now, the border between the countries has been completely open, and as south Cyprus is a full member of the European Union, anyone holding an EC passport can cross with ease. The big news for anyone looking at staying at a Northern Cyprus hotel, is that this means flights are now straightforward and quick. Larnaca airport in the south is close to the border and only a short taxi ride to most of the resorts in the north. Larnaca has many flight routes, not only from all the major UK airports, but also from many regional ones together with most mainland European cities as well.
So, now you can reach North Cyprus with ease, how about somewhere to stay? Well, the choice is massive. Despite its relative seclusion, the country’s hotel industry is vibrant and world class. Northern Cyprus hotels include a number of five-star plus establishments, which boast all the facilities you could ever want. However, to many people this is not what a holiday in Cyprus is about. The island is famed for its friendly people and an old-fashioned approach to life, in the best possible way – not to mention its excellent food. For this reason, many visitors look for a smaller hotel, and there are some that really are truly excellent;offering superb facilities, but with a much more personal touch. There really is somewhere here for everybody!
The choices appear endless, but there are a few hints to help you get the most from a break.North Cyprus has some of the Mediterranean’s best beaches, but the coast around the main resort (the wonderful harbour town of Kyrenia) is comparatively rocky. Kyrenia and the surrounding areas offer easy access to all the best places of interest, and the area is home to a wide variety of restaurants and tavernas. Unless you want to spend every day on the beach,it’s probably best to look at one of the smaller, nearby hotels and then hire a car to get to the beach some days. Within a twenty-minute drive there are some spectacular beach clubs, with excellent facilities. Perfect for a little “sun, sand and sea” therapy. It’s probably best to choose somewhere quiet to stay, maybe in one of the villages close to Kyrenia, as this will give you easy access to everything you could want, and provide you with a peaceful haven. All the better places have excellent pools and ample terrace areas, so you will never be far from the sun!

A guide to Cyprus, Bulgaria and Spanish Property
Article by Pauline Hopkins
Spanish property, Cyprus property and Bulgaria property are ranked very high in overseas property interest list.Have you too been thinking of buying an overseas property in Spain, Cyprus or Bulgaria? While sitting in your New York office have you been wondering how can I manage to buy a property for sale in Spanish? Here is a mini guide to smoothen your process of buying an overseas property.
While looking for a property in Spain, the first thing you need to bear in mind is that Spanish property market is an unregulated industry. So it is as good as any other unregulated market. There are plenty of good real estate service providers who can help you find a good property for sale in Spain. One more important criterion to be fulfilled when buying a Spanish property is that foreign buyers need to acquire a fiscal identification number known as NIE (Numero de Identification Extranjero). It is required by Spanish tax authorities to identify buyers.
Cyprus is popular holiday destination flashing crystal clear water, sandy beaches, traditional villages and years of history. And now Cyprus property is also in high demand. There are numerous buyers looking for a holiday home as it is very well connected. The land registry system in Cyprus differs only marginally from that in Unite Kingdom. Also the buy-to-let investment opportunity is very high for Cyprus property owners.
Buying a Bulgaria property is very lucrative option with Bulgaria recently becoming a member of EU. One thing important for the foreign buyers eager to buy Bulgaria property is to know is that there is a Tax estimation price, which is similar to ratable value in UK. This price is usually many times lower than the actual sale price and vendors generally prefer to write this price in title deed.
In order to be successful in buying overseas property Spain or overseas property Cyprus or property for sale in Bulgaria, you need to be able to get in touch with a registered estate agent who has a strong local presence and good relations with property developers. While buying an overseas property extensive due diligence is required as property laws are very likely to be different across different places. Thus along with a trusted real estate agent,it is also important to hire an independent legal representative who can clarify any doubts you have and who can be held legally liable.
She is a property advisor and recommends you to visit href=”http://www.interlinkproperties.com/”>http://www.interlinkproperties.com/ for information on overseas properties.
