How to Stay Safe While Traveling to a Foreign Country

Each year hundreds of thousands of American tourists go on vacation in a foreign country and do not return. The list for international missing persons is on the rise as the world becomes more dangerous. Unfortunately, most of these types of cases become international cold cases as well. However, you do not have to become another statistic when you travel abroad. There are many ways to ensure your safety while you are traveling to another country. Here are a few guidelines to follow to make sure you return home after a vacation abroad:
1. Stay with at least one other person . Do not walk around alone, especially at night. Also, if you traveling with just one other person, it is mostly likely a decent choice to stay in a well lit area and/or more crowded places. This is most likely the most basic guideline, and probably the most ignored as well.
2. Do not go to the residence of someone you don’t know . Even if you think the people or person you meet seem extremely kind very nice, you should be wary if a person you do not know asks you to come to their home or their hotel room. If you want to meet up with people you meet while one your trip, make sure you go to a public place.
3. Do not give anyone you spend time with specific information about where you are staying or your contact information in the United States. It is probably alright to tell people you meet along your trip which hotel you are staying at, but do not give them your room number. Also, do not give your entire name to people you don’t know . You can still be polite by only telling your first name.
4. It is very important that you are aware of your surroundings at all times, especially after dark. It is pretty simple for human traffickers or thieves to kidnap you or take your things if you look like you don’t know where you are and you can’t see because of the dark. It is also essential to be cautious and have a good idea of where you are going if you are walking around a foreign city at night.
5. It is probably best to keep important documents, like your passport and money, with you or locked up in the hotel safe at all times. If a bad person gets a hold of your passport, you will be an easy target for human traffickers or for identity theft.
6. Finally, look up any safety concerns on a government website, like the CIA or look in a reputable travel book that will tell you any detailed issues in the specific country to which you are traveling.
If you follow these guidelines, you will be well on your way to having a happy and safe vacation. To summarize, it is essential that you to stay in areas that have more locals, especially at night, and do not give specific information about yourself or your hotel arrangements with people you meet along your trip. A lot of U.S. citizens believe that traveling abroad nowadays is too dangerous; however, if you make a conscious effort to keep yourself safe, there shouldn’t be any problems with your vacation abroad.

Suggestions on How To Make Your Airplane Travel A More Pleasant One

A lot of Americans have traveled by air at least once with many of them traveling by plane very frequently . Over the last several years, especially since the September 11th attacks, traveling by air has changed quite a bit requiring some knowledge as well as patience on the part of the traveler. This article will give a few suggestions on ways to make your trip by airplane as easy as it can be whether it is by using online check-in and carrying on luggage to having your bags shipped by a Dallas courier or courier in Dallas rather than on the flight .
The first thing to address is luggage. Several years ago , passengers could pack whatever they wanted in several, big suitcases as they wanted and checked it on the flight hoping the bags do not get lost . Because of the increased security, carry-on luggage is a lot more closely monitored as is checked baggage . No liquids more than 4 ounces can be brought on board and must be scanned under an x-ray while in a specific size plastic bag . This resulted in more people checking through their bags until about 18 months ago when the economy and airlines began to struggle financially. due to the increased expense of fuel airlines now charge people up to $20 per bag to check it through and often times they get lost in the process.
The best way to avoid the expense and the trouble of lugging all of your suitcases to the airport and then a high probability to have them getting lost, would be to hire a courier service that can deliver your things right to your destination on the same day you arrive . If you are going to have to pay for your bags to arrive to your destination anyway, why not have a more secure way without having to schlep them throughout the airports yourself ?
Another suggestion to avoid some huge lines would be to do two things; check in before you go to the airport online or by using your Blackberry and carry-on your bags . Most of the huge lines at the check-in area at the airport are people having to check their luggage and get their boarding pass . Now if you check in early from home and get your boarding pass, you can completely avoid this line altogether and go straight to the security. The required (hour and a half to two|1-2} hours time frame that most of the airlines tell you to abide by now be greatly reduced .
The final suggestion on traveling by air would be some items to bring along with you to make your trip more comfortable. Temperatures on airplanes may vary somewhat and many people find themselves getting cold during flights. Be sure to pack a small blanket or jacket and some socks if you wore sandals to keep yourself warm while flying . Another item to bring is your own food . Most airlines have eliminated food from their flights so bringing some healthy snacks or a sandwich is a great idea and your stomach will thank you also from avoiding the fast food in the airport .
