The above are just a small selection of the best Troodos Mountain villages and areas that you should visit.

Pitsillia can be found in the East of the Mountains and it is well known for its lush vineyards and orchards as well as its picturesque villages. Within the orchards you will see some of the most beautiful hazelnut and almond trees. It truly is one of the best scenic places within Cyprus and if possible you should explore it whenever you get a chance.

Palaichori can be found 15km away from Argos and it is best known for its 16th century chapel. The chapel sits on top of a hill overlooking a really picturesque village. It is painted with well established murals and it dates back to the post-Byzantine era in Cyprus. It is the main church within the upper village and it has four different cycles of wall paintings. Many visitors to Cyprus like to see the church as it represents Cyprus's history and its culture.

The Solea Valley can be found on the Nicosia-Troodos road and it boasts some of the most picturesque mountain villages in Cyprus. It is otherwise referred to as "Apple Valley" and it is one of the most tourist friendly places within the Mountains. There is a range of hotels and restaurants to choose from and even though it is a very tourist orientated place, it still manages to remain loyal to its culture. So you can experience Cyprus's culture as well as benefiting from some modern amenities too whilst you enjoy your stay.

Finally the Kykko Monastery is the richest and the most famous monastery in Cyprus. It was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and it was founded in 1100. It is the only monastery that still has one of the three remaining icons which was ascribed to St Luke. It is a very religious place and there are religious fairs held in Kykko in August and September.

So the above are just a few of the best places to go in the Troodos Mountains. Most people think of travelling to the many beaches that Cyprus offers, but if you are looking for something different then the Troodos Mountains are definitely worth a look.
