Why Choose to Hike in Cyprus?

Hiking in Cyprus is idyllic at any time of year and there are trails to suit every type of hiker. So whether you are an experienced hiker or whether you just want to take a gentle stroll through the Troodos Mountains, there is always a trail to suit you.

The Troodos Mountains are definitely worth exploring. Within the mountains you will find four very different nature trails. One particular trail which you may like is the seven kilometre walk which goes around in a circle and it allows you to take in plenty of wild flowers and wildlife such as majestic eagles. Another scenic walk through the mountains is the Kalidonia Trail which crosses over the Kyro Potamo stream. It leads you under a wooden archway and takes you to the Caledoneon falls. All four of the Troodos Mountain trails will take you three days if you decide to stay and take the tours. It is definitely worthwhile and if you enjoy hiking it is certainly one of the best destinations to do it.

If you are staying in Pafos then you will also be spoilt for choice with the hikes that you can take part in. You could spend the day in Pafos itself exploring the Pafos forest which has beautiful oak and pine trees. There is also the extremely scenic Xeros River Valley which does look absolutely amazing.

Another destination you can visit whilst you are staying in Pafos includes Akamas. It is thumb shaped and it is basically a strip of land that is crossed over by rocky hiking trails. If you do decide to take part in the trails you will get to see beautiful rock formations and cliffs which boast amazing views. You can even get excursions to the land from Pafos in 4×4 jeeps which run all year around.

Generally all the sightseeing hikes in Cyprus are worth going on. They boast some of the most amazing views of the island and you will get to see plenty of wildlife and wild flowers. You will definitely need a camera to capture all of your memories on the hikes and you will need to ensure that you leave enough time to fully enjoy the trails. There are specific tours that you can sign up with which will organise your travel and your accommodation. It may well be worth doing that, especially if you are new to Cyprus.

Overall Cyprus does have some amazing hikes that you can experience. So if you fancy doing a little more than just lazing around on a beach all day, it may well be worth checking out the hikes near to where you are staying. Hiking in Cyprus can truly be a wonderful experience.
